Sovereignty incidents — hardware, export controls, supply chain
Fable 5 / Mythos 5 restoration (30 June – 1 July 2026) [Added v0.7.1]
Claim
On 30 June 2026 the US Department of Commerce lifted the 12 June export-control directive. Fable 5 was restored to all customers worldwide on 1 July, ending a 19-day suspension; Mythos 5 was reintroduced only to approved US organisations following government review. Anthropic stated that the jailbreak cited by the government was narrow and that comparable capabilities could be elicited from other publicly available models not subject to similar controls. Reported aftermath includes closer collaboration between Anthropic and US agencies on model testing, threat sharing, and jailbreak-risk standards, and continued policy debate over whether model-access export controls become a repeated instrument.
