National Institute of Standards and Technology, Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework, NIST AI 100-1 (Gaithersburg, MD: NIST, January 2023). A voluntary US framework built around four jobs: GOVERN, MAP, MEASURE, MANAGE. The Generative AI Profile (NIST AI 600-1, July 2024) tailors it for generative-AI systems, with 12 categories of risk. In practice, it is the go-to reference for managing AI risk in the US private sector.
